Welcome to 7th Grade Science!
The famous Kiwi!
Seventh grade science is life science - BIOLOGY!. We begin the year with study of the river ecosystem.
We will be taking two field trips during the school year - one to the river, and one to the prairie. Your student will be bringing home one permission slip for both trips as they get closer. We will also be looking for parent chaperones for these trips. If you like nature, creatures, and kids, we want you! Please let us know on your student's permission slip.
You will not see a lot of homework from science. Much of the work we do requires materials that must
stay in the classroom. Students are also given an opportunity to start work in class and sometimes are
required to finish in study hall or at home. Science work is not collected individually, but all of the
assignments for a unit are turned in at the end of the unit. Therefore organization is very important.
We have assembled a science folder or binder, and students are encouraged to use them to stay organized. There will be a test at the end of each unit and a study guide will go out at least a week ahead of time.
The science grade is based simply on an accumulation of points. The more
points earned, the better the grade. A small part of the grade for the first two trimesters is a demo
performed on Science Fair Friday. Please click on that link above to see more details!
